We are over the moon to announce the return of flagship taste-maker event, A Stone’s Throw Festival to the beautiful Newcastle coastline this May 25th! In 2022 the success of AST marked a pivotal moment for the toon, as it managed to establish itself on a national scale.

This led to many new ideas and exciting conversations regarding how to develop and execute a music discovery event worthy of people’s hard earned cash. This all said,  AST is sure to smash it out the park in 2024 and promises everybody has the best possible time!

Headlining A Stone’s Throw Festival this year are indie favourites and hit makers Sundara Karma, who will be accompanied by musical innovators Bilk, Gengahr and Pip Blom. Reminiscing on their time in the toon, Sundara Karma shared a few words about their excitement to be back and headlining AST this year:

“The Newcastle date on our headline tour at the end of last year was definitely one of the best, so we’re very excited to be back in the North East headlining A Stone’s Throw festival at the end of May!’” – Sundara Karma

These indie legends lead a line-up featuring over 50 of the freshest new talents spanning the country and afar! When the festival first teased its return back in December, we were dealt the task of selecting ‘15 future icons’ that we believe should be high on your radar for ones to watch; Car Boot Sale, Carsick, Cucamaras, Delights, Downtown Kayoto, Fiona-Lee, Gen and the Degenerates, Lost Romantic, Maius Mollis, Mezanmi, mustbejohn, Opus Kink, Post-Party, Sterling Press and The Family Rain.

Like 2022, AST will take place across multiple venues spanning the coastline of Tynemouth and North Shields. The festival will proudly deliver the event alongside participating independent venues, including Salt Market Social, The Exchange 1856, King Street Social, Three Tanners Bank, The Engine Room, Karma Coast, Tynemouth Social Club, Barca El Globo and The Watch House Museum. To ensure that everyone can enjoy the festival safely, the AST double-decker bus will also be returning this year. Bus routes will be readily available before the festival to make sure everyone can get to the venues on time – with some surprise performances along the way!
